Thu Le Park and Zoo in Hanoi

In the past, Thu Le Park was in the west of the capital but now it’s in the central of city. The park welcomes a thousand of visitors everyday, especially the children.
Thu Le Park is in Ba Dinh district, Hanoi city. This is a big entertaining area which was built in 1975. In 1996, it was relatively completed. The Park is 29ha of area, including 6ha of pond, 5 exhibitions, and 40 animal spots with about 600 animals of more than 100 species.

There are many tree and paved road in the park. Beside the animals, such as: elephants, bears, horses, tigers, monkeys… there are many rare fishes and animals which are taken from Africa, America, Europe, and Australia.

Moreover, it is also a Historic Heritage Site, a beliefs’s destination of Hanoians as well as Vietnamese people. The Zoo is in Thu Le village whose legend is associated with Ling Lang legend (a famous national Vietnamese legend) with the Voi Phuc temple in the western of the Zoo.

Voi Phuc Temple
The legend states that the temple was built on the base of Ling Lang’s house (Ling Lang was a prince of Ly Thanh Tong King). When the Chinese attacked our country, Ling Lang prince defeated the enemy. When he passed away, Ly Thanh Tong required to build the temple to worship his prince and it was called “Voi Phuc Temple”.
