White Horse Temple in Hanoi

This is an ancient temple in the heart of Hanoi capital that the visitors don't want to meet when going the city.

When Ly Thai To King decide to move the capital from Hoa Lu to Thang Long (Hanoi), he wanted to build the wall but many times failed. The King prayed at Long Do Temple and he saw a white horse came out from the temple. Ly Thai To designed the wall’s construction followed the horse’s footprints, which helps the wall didn’t collapse. The genie was ordained as Thang Long Bible’s Tutelary.

According to the data found in this temple, it was maintained in Le Chinh Hoa destiny (1680 – 1705) and the 20th year of Minh Menh destiny.

Now White Horse Temple has big size which towards the south. All of its divisions were arranged in a closed space. The construction bear the Nguyen destiny’s art style (19th century). The outstanding is the wooden frame with the big wood pillars and special roof shelves. They all were well decorated.

His house was built with wood, it had bedroom, kitchen, dining room and guest room. The stilt was 10,5 m of length and 6,2m of width. It included 2 floors. The 2nd floor has 2 rooms, the other was used to meet the guest. Hence, the house had 3 rooms with the modest area. The architect was also sophisticated when designing the house that it can get the sunshine in the morning and Ho Chi Minh president can see the sunset in the afternoon.

Having gone through a lot of eventful phrase, damages as well as renovations, today the pagoda still exists and remains the unofficial symbol of the ancient city Hue.

 To the left of the tower is a pavilion sheltering an enormous bell. The bell, called Dai Hong Chung, was cast in 1710 by Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu. It is famous for the great size, which is 2.5m high and 3,285 kg weigh. It is considered to be an outstanding achievement of 18th century bronze casting.

Overview

Coc Ly market is market of ethnic living in the northwest of Bac Ha district, Lao Cai. The market has meeting beside suspension bridge across the Chay River. It opens only on Tuesday.

 From a distance, Coc Ly is a beautiful and vivid picture. Adorned for the beautiful landscape, once the top of Mong, Dao, Tay, Nung… wear traditional costumes from all the villages pull to fair.

Coc Ly a is a medium sized minority peoples market where every Tuesday the tribes from the surrounding villages come to buy and sell goods and meet friends. You will find Flower Hmong (Red Hmong), Black Dao, Nung, Giay and Tay peoples in attendance and the goods on offer range from local fruit and vegetables to livestock, handicrafts and clothes.

The market starts around 7am and closes in the early afternoon. A typical itinerary for a day at Coc Ly would be something along the lines of: Drive to Coc Ly (95 km / 1h 45m from Sapa, or 60 km / 1 hour from Lao Cai). Enjoy your time at the market, walk around, bargain and take in the sights and sounds of local life.

After exploring the market take a short drive to the Chay river.  Sail down the gently flowing waters, lined by corn and vegetable fields,  passing beautiful villages, impressive waterfalls, gorges and caves as you journey downriver.

Stop halfway down the river to visit Trung Do, a village of the Tay minority people.  Take time to explore the farms where they grow exotic chillis and jack fruit. Sail a further 15 minutes down stream to Bao Nhai village and have a late lunch in a local restaurant.

After lunch drive back to Sapa or Lao Cai.

In the recent years, Independence Festival also is a chance for Vietnam tourists and foreigners coming to Moc Chau. In here, they can enjoy clean and fresh air and wallow with lively atmosphere in the festival.

Moc Chau district also has many activities to promote tourism and attract more tourists to Moc Chau such as cooperating with tourist information centres to open tours. Tourist can visit Uncle Ho’s monument, visit soldier and people on Moc Chau Farm and come to Moc Ly, Doi cave, Dai Yem waterfall, etc.

Tourists not only see ethnic beauty in traditional clothes but also discover and take part in unique culture activities. Besides, there are many traditional games like pounding rice cake, cooking rice, throwing “con”, going by “kha kheo”, etc.
